The Stories We Tell

personal insight workshops with

JAMIE & SARAH JAUNCEY

venue

Our weekends are an escape to the beauty of Highland Perthshire. We run the majority of our weekend workshops at Birnam Arts (see below), the lovely community arts and conference centre in the heart of Birnam village, just across the River Tay from Dunkeld.

The Foundation Weekend workshop is the ‘gateway’ to the rest of our programme. You must have done this weekend, or the corresponding Foundation Residential, before you can continue to other weekends or residentials.  Read more ...

The Advanced Weekend follows on from, and complements, the Foundation Weekend. To get the most from The Stories We Tell we recommend that you do both, though they're bookable separately and at the time that suits you. Read more ...

The Special Topic Weekends build on the work of the basic programme with a closer look at areas of particular interest, such as an imaginative approach to tackling problematical issues, and seizing the moment to move forward in our lives.  Read more ...

THE VENUE

Birnam Arts is easy to get to from everywhere. It’s a few hundred yards off the A9, a dozen miles north of Perth, and a two-minute walk from Dunkeld & Birnam railway station (on the main line from London/Edinburgh to Inverness).

The area is popular with tourists and there are a number of local hotels and B&Bs in both Dunkeld and Birnam (see below). There’s live music at the Taybank pub in Dunkeld and there are many lovely walks to do—the ancient Birnam Oak, last relic of Shakespeare’s Birnam Wood, is down on the riverbank, five minutes from Birnam Arts.

Our weekend workshops run Saturday morning to Sunday afternoon, starting at 9.15 and ending at 4.30 on both days, so there’s time to catch the 5.00 train back to Edinburgh on Sunday. Birnam Arts has an excellent café where we recommend that people have lunch.

ACCOMMODATION

There’s a wide choice of accommodation in Birnam and Dunkeld. B&B prices start at around £40 per person. With the exception of the Dunkeld House Hotel, most places are no more than 15 minutes’ walk from the venue. Here are some suggestions:
